Redmond Group is proud to announce that in our latest audit by the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS), we achieved a score of 42/45 for our everyday working, and the processes we have in place. Having won Silver for the last three consecutive years, and with our many initiatives of continuous improvement, we’re hoping this has us well on our way to achieving the extra points to win Gold.
The Friends of Leigh Library Gardens (FOLLG) is a not for profit organisation (formerly constituted small charity), with governance through three trustees and over twenty ‘member’ volunteers. One of those three trustees is an NED for Redmond Group Ltd, who admits that this is a personal passion of his in relation to adding vitally important social value in the area, and creating community improvements.
The global lockdown is predicted to see annual carbon emissions reduce by 8%. This highlights what a huge challenge it will be to reduce emissions by 50% by 2030. Furthermore, there is a worry that emissions will increase at a faster rate than before as people shy away from public transport. This is why national economic post-COVID recovery plans need to include investment into the faster transition into a low carbon society – investment in renewable energy, clean tech, battery technology, cleaner industry and improvements in home energy efficiency.

We’re proud to announce that Redmond Group Ltd has been awarded a ‘patent’ for our innovative safety product, REDCOM. REDCOM is a personal alarm system that guarantees any falls from height are noticed almost instantly, and help is dispatched immediately to attend to an injured operative. This is via an immediate electronic accelerometer alert and GPS signalling. This product now also holds ‘worldwide’ patent protection.

This year marks 50 years since the first Earth Day, which was on the 22nd April 1970. In 2020, the theme is Climate Action. And although COVID-19 is clearly the whole world’s most urgent crisis, that does not diminish the critical importance of continuing to do all that we can to slow down and prevent negative human impact on our planet’s climate.

Tuesday 3rd March 2020 is World Wildlife Day. 2020’s theme is “Sustaining all life on Earth”, and celebrates the interconnected nature of the world’s biodiversity. Aligning with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) around climate action, clean water and sanitation, and life on land, there’s clear focus on the sustainable use of resources, and the conservation and protection of wildlife of all kinds.

Redmond Group offers day visits to our Community Zoo as part of its social involvement with all of its employees. We arranged another great day out at the zoo, this time for our Procurement and Plant Administrator, Skye Donaghy, and her young guests. On their visit they got to see the chickens, pygmy goats, kunekune pigs, mini pigs, rheas, alpacas, llamas, wallabies, bees, and the peacock.

Redmond Group is very proud to announce we have achieved ISO 45001:2018 certification. This accreditation audits our occupational health and safety and this is another testament to our passion for maintaining the highest levels of quality when it comes to our environment, policies, and procedures that protect our colleagues’, visitors’, and clients’ well-being.
Congratulations to Raihan Hira for completing two weeks work experience at our offices in Enfield. During his time with Redmond Group, he learned about everyone’s job roles, and was shown and assisted with our procurement process. Redmond Group would like to wish him good luck with his future career.
Today, Tuesday 11th February, is an International Day to recognise the critical role women and girls play in science and technology. It is a day to bring awareness to the gender divide within this career path and to encourage a strengthened female participation.
2019 was a special year for Redmond Group, amongst other accreditations, we made history as being the first designated installer of Victaulic in the UK, in fact we are the first outside the US.
As we work on reducing our company’s negative impact on the environment as much as possible – and wherever we can – for the last two years our company fleet has consisted of mostly hybrid vehicles. And now, Redmond Group’s recent acquisition of a 100% electric vehicle for our Managing Director, Stephen Redmond, helps us move closer to one of our sustainability goals, which is to have a 100% electric fleet.
We are very proud to have once again achieved high recognition for our work to make our sites – and our whole business – meet the highest standards of care for our staff, the communities we work in and with, our clients, and the environment.

As previously announced, Redmond Group has been selected as finalists in the Construction News’ Specialists Awards in two categories. We are delighted to showcase our Primary Control Feature, which has been nominated as a finalist in the category of Innovation of the Year (Contractor).
We are confident this system will revolutionise the Mechanical & Plumbing sector by drastically reducing potential flood and water damage caused by pipe leakage during the construction phase.
Redmond Group would like to give recognition to the excellent work being done by 25 year old Dutch engineer Boyan Slat, Founder and CEO of The Ocean Cleanup, who has begun a worldwide operation to rid the world’s oceans from plastic contaminates using autonomous vehicles known as ‘Interceptors’, of which four have been built so far.

Redmond Group is proud to have provided the mechanical services on this prestigious development at Clarges Estate and for this key customer, British Land. Redmond Group delivered works on this project in two separate stages, firstly to the Plant Room and the secondly to the 33 high-end luxury apartments.
As part of our Wildlife and Woodland Restoration Programme we helped release Hedgehogs back into the wild after their rehabilitation period with Ventura Wildlife Park. With winter fast approaching we assisted the Hedgehogs to reach their desired weight of 600 grams before hibernation by providing them with enough food. This is a vital part of ensuring their survival. See below pictures of one of our volunteers refilling one of the feed stations.

Redmond Group’s head office team hosted and enjoyed a Potluck Day on the 19th August. It was a great success with many offerings brought in including Shepherd’s Pie, Pasta, Fish & Chips, Flapjacks and a cake with Redmond Group’s logo on it! It gave us a chance to build our team comradery by simply siting, chatting, laughing, and bonding together over our shared love of all things food.
Today is World Mental Health Day, and we make the time to focus on the importance of global and local mental health education and care. As well as the advocating of understanding and acceptance, and fighting against the past stigmas associated with mental health issues.
Redmond Group are supporting APHC’s Quality Plumber Week by helping to raise awareness of what poor mental health is and what support is available for all their staff. This will be lead by our Mental Health champion and director, Mick McCarthy.

Ms Udara Mahagedara is working on her PhD Assignment, based around SME waste management systems. Redmond Group’s Managing Director Stephen Redmond and our HSQE & Sustainability Director Mick McCarthy were happy to spend time with Ms Mahagedara discussing how an SME (and sub-contractor) can manage this complex and ever more important subject.

We support wildlife in multiple ways, including our 5 Year Woodland Programme, our Cross Pollination Project, the work we do in allowing rehabilitated hedgehogs back into the wild, and of course our Community Zoo. But did you know that – wherever space allows – we also install bird huts on site?

Our HSQE and Sustainability Director, Mick McCarthy is a certified Mental Health First Aider. During the course he recently attended, Mick learned how to recognise the signs and symptoms of mental illness. His knowledge allows him to take a proactive approach to being the first point of contact for employees to reach out to if they ever feel that they need or want to talk to someone for support.

Work at our Embassy Gardens site is progressing very well. We would like to express our gratitude to all our operatives at Embassy Gardens for completing another quality installation on the roof. The photos below show the LTHW (Low Temperature Hot Water) and CHW (CHilled Water Systems) pipework.
Lee Scott is a highly valued member of the Redmond Group family. He has grown within his role, and – through his instinct and drive to learn and apply knowledge – expanded it.
One of our employees volunteers with Chickenshed inclusive theatre in North London as a Front of House Volunteer, and told us the wonderful story and ethos of the Chickenshed Theatre. Also about the amazing work the organisation’s employees and volunteers do to promote Chickenshed’s vision of inclusion and interaction across an incredibly diverse group of people.
Everyone at Redmond Group Ltd was sad to say goodbye to Yasmine Small, who managed the accounts for Redmond Investments and Redmond Acquisitions. Yasmine has done an amazing job, working closely with our MD Stephen Redmond for a number of years. Although she’ll be a great loss to our close team, we do wish Yasmine all the very best of luck and happiness.
We are proud to be registered with the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) for the fourth year running, where we currently have a 4.5 out of 5 star rating.
Five years after our MD Stephen Redmond assisted a village in the Eastern Provinces of Sierra Leone, we are following up with additional support through our monthly £200 donation from our ‘scrap metal recycling scheme’.
Joining our community zoo recently is Percy the Peacock, and Pia the Peahen. Percy joined us first, he is an Indian Blue Peacock, he was subsequently joined by Pia, who is a Black Shoulder Peahen. Both species are native to South Asia.

Redmond Group Ltd celebrated the last day of the 2018-2019 Financial Year with Redmond-wide Pizza delivered to our sites and our office, all in the marvellous Spring sunshine!
We’re coming close to project completion at our JLR Coventry site, and the quality of our work installed has been praised as being to a superior standard. The photographs below are all associated to trench heater pipework installations; as you can see from the pictures, our operatives adhere strictly to the Redmond Group process of Quality Control Numbers (QCN) to claim ownership of the work they are so proud of.

professional assistance as a Co-operative Governor to the school’s Board of Governors at Deanesfield Primary School in South Ruislip, Middlesex.
Redmond Group Ltd has partnered with Cavendish Engineers to show our commitment to our employees’ health and well-being, alongside strengthened energy management. As part of this focus, the air in our office will be monitored for CO2 levels, humidity, and temperature – all to ensure comfortable levels of each. Additionally, electricity usage levels will be recorded in order to identify any areas for improvement and therefore manage better energy efficiency.
As part of Redmond Group’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, we do our best as an organisation to support and meet the guidelines set out to achieve Development Goal 6: Clean water and sanitation for all by 2030, set out on Our Commitments page.
Redmond Group ensures its operatives have somewhere comfortable to sit down, relax, have a change of scenery, socialise and eat together when taking their breaks. We have installed (where site space permits us) sheltered picnic areas or “well-being huts” on each of our sites for everyone to use.
Our Plant and Labour Manager, Tayler Kiernan is running a charity fund raiser for Tierney Kinsell’s life saving Cancer Treatment at the Lord Haig in Hertford this Sunday, 24th March.

As a growing company we wanted to ensure we have the right infrastructure in place for our exciting future. It’s been a few months since we moved, and we’re now fully settled in to our new offices.
What better way to recognise National Apprenticeship Week than to celebrate one of our apprentices that has demonstrated the importance of these schemes in building a career for young people. Lee Sargent started with us as an apprentice in February 2016 and continues to work with us as a fully qualified plumber.
In October our Management Team – including our Directors – went to Belgium to learn how Victaulic’s excellent system works, and understand the correct procedures for installing it on our sites.
During the month of February we celebrated the birthdays of Stephen Redmond (Managing Director) and Matt Lee (Mechanical Contracts Manager).
We are proud to announce Redmond Group have been awarded preferred vendor status by Crown House Technologies, part of the Laing O’Rourke Group.
On MasterChef tonight at 8pm (Wednesday 6th March) is Lewis Riley-Lester! Lewis works as our Supervisor at our project for Jaguar Land Rover.

Dr Paul Toyne Reflects on His First Year Working with Redmond Group Ltd
My first 12 months as Redmond Group’s non-executive director have been an absolute delight. Redmond Group is a professionally run MEP business that typically works in the midlands and the south-east on contracts around the £2 million mark. Recent jobs range from residential, commercial offices, data centres, hospitals, factories and shopping centres. I have been impressed by the real commitment to customer service and to the quality of works; it is so refreshing. Visiting some of the prestige jobs they are employed on and seeing how they deliver on time, on budget with no snags, it is just a real privilege to witness.
Our Estimating team has taken it up a notch and designed a custom USB stick to send out to clients. Ben Stocker, our Senior Estimator, said “Redmond Group takes pride in presenting ourselves in a professional manner and takes a keen interest in supporting innovation within the industry.”
Redmond Group Ltd is delighted to announce that the winner of the fund raising raffle on behalf of The Myton Hospices will be visiting our Community Zoo on Saturday 26th January. A fun day is planned, visiting our community of wallabies, alpaca, and other animals at the zoo.

Today marks the start of the BSS Car-aoke Challenge, where director Stephen Redmond, along with Scott Argent from BSS Group, Dom West of Aliaxis and 25 other cars/teams, all in aid of raising money for Mind: The mental health charity.
