FORENSICALLY CONTROLLED INSTALLATION
OWNERSHIP BY OUR OPERATIVES

We operate a Forensically Controlled  Installation System that includes Quality Labels and Quality Control Numbers (QCN). Additional forensic checks are provided through our manufacturers’ quality audits which we employ at every site on every product we install. (See more information below).

Our Quality Labels are applied at the point of quality audits taking place. They indicate which test – visual, ultrasound, MPI – has been completed to the satisfactory level. Any issues are recorded and addressed, and tests repeated. When we review our installations, we can see immediately which tests have been carried out on each section and whether any issues arose.

Redmond QCN’s are given to each of our operatives, who mark every fitting they complete with a permanent sticker carrying their personal number.

This allows us to attribute good work to specific individuals and upskill operatives who haven't delivered to our required standard.

This level of accountability is highly effective at driving performance standards by motivating operatives to take greater ownership and pride in their work.

Our QCN’s have been recognised by key clients including Laing O’Rourke and Crown House Technologies, as a powerful innovation boosting the safety and quality of pipework. They liked our system so much, they are rolling it out with their own operatives and other subcontractors.

INSTALLATION THE RIGHT WAY
MANUFACTURERS’ QUALITY AUDITS

As part of our commitment to quality standards, we ask manufacturers to complete quality audits on the installations we work on using their products and tooling.

The first audit takes place soon after work is underway to ensure we start work in the right way and all our operatives understand the specific requirements of every manufacturer.

Regular audits are maintained throughout the life of a project to ensure work is progressing correctly and standards are fully maintained. As a result, the risk of faulty work is minimised and our clients have extra reassurance that their installation is being carried out accurately.

Most manufacturers have participated in site visits before, but few have been asked to check the quality of installations to the level we require at Redmond.

Commercial discussions are taking place on full implementation of the Redmond Primary Control Feature and a patent submission is underway.

PERSONAL SAFETY FOR OPERATIVES
REDCOM: PATENT PENDING

In addition to continuous safety training programmes, we are investing in Redcom to protect our operatives at work. Redcom is a personal alarm system that guarantees any falls from height are noticed and help is dispatched immediately to attend to injured operatives. An immediate electronic alert reduces the time between a fall and assistance being provided. This can save lives.

A patent is pending on Redcom and more information will be made public once the patent is in place.

'WATER DESTRUCTION' CONTROL PRODUCT
PRIMARY CONTROL FEATURE

We searched internationally for an electronic monitor that raises an alarm if a leak occurs while construction works are left unattended. Nothing existed, so we created our own innovated module called a primary control feature with an SMS alert.

With our system, the timeframe for monitoring is set within the software, a meter determines whether water levels have been exceeded and if an extraordinary flow of water is entering the building a solenoid valve is triggered to stop the main water feed coming in. Simultaneously a bump feed opens and water is taken out, and an SMS alert is sent to up to seven managers.

Our clients have peace of mind that any damage from leaks will be minimised and insurance firms are prepared to insure our works.

INVESTING IN IDEAS
EMPLOYEE INNOVATION REWARD SCHEME

Openness and collaboration are key to our culture at Redmond and we welcome ideas and innovations from anyone in the business.

To motivate more people to come forward with solutions to quality, service, safety and environmental challenges, we’ve set up our employee innovation reward scheme.

Any idea we take forward into development is subject to a contract between Redmond and the employee. We invest in the innovation and our employee has joint ownership of the intellectual property, as well as a share of any financial rewards.

PREVENT AND REPAIR
PROTECTING OUR WORK AND REPUTATION

Our next contract depends on the successful delivery of our last one, which is why we go further to protect our work during construction.

We commit to repairing any accidental damage to pipework free of charge if we are immediately notified of damage. This protects the success of the project, as well as our client’s and our own reputation.
