International Day of Women and Girls in Science

Today, Tuesday 11th February, is an International Day to recognise the critical role women and girls play in science and technology. It is a day to bring awareness to the gender divide within this career path and to encourage a strengthened female participation.

The worldwide student enrolment rate for girls and women for courses in engineering, manufacturing and construction is 8%.

Science and gender equality are both vital in the United Nation’s Sustainability development goals, including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
