Ms Udara Mahagedara is working on her PhD Assignment, based around SME waste management systems. Redmond Group’s Managing Director Stephen Redmond, our HSQE & Sustainability Director Mick McCarthy, and our Non-Executive Director Dr Paul Toyne were all happy to spend time with Ms Mahagedara discussing how an SME (and sub-contractor) can manage this complex and ever more important subject.
“First of all I should thank Mr. Redmond for granting me permission to conduct the interviews and allocating some time from their busy schedules.
I am a student who is doing a Doctorate of Business Administration. As part of my research I am studying the sustainability practice integration to the supply chains of SMEs in the construction industry. In particular waste management which comes under environmental dimension.
Redmond Group was really helpful in the data collection. It was a great opportunity for me to gather some innovative ideas, which is beyond the common ideas. One idea that attracted me is the greenhouse concept in the sites. As I spoke with few other construction companies, I know it is not something common. Also, spending the profits on charities, and to protect wildlife is another attractive point of Redmond Group.
I hope these kinds of innovative ideas would help me in my future career as a sustainability manager.”Regards,
Ms Udara Mahagedara
Redmond Group was delighted to assist Udara’s research in this way, and is excited to follow her progressive career into the future.
