Sierra Leone – five years ago today

Five years after our MD Stephen Redmond assisted a village in the Eastern Provinces of Sierra Leone, we are following up with additional support through our monthly £200 donation from our ‘scrap metal recycling scheme’. In the past we have not only donated to a school in the Dodo region but also supported the youth by supplying new football and rugby kits, kindly donated by St. Joseph’s GAA Club.

Further to that our MD took time out from his work schedule to visit the AIDS clinic in the capital Freetown. AIDS in this region is not only a physical illness but a social illness in so far as the stigma attached to the individuals and families concerned.

The area we are supporting lies close to the Liberian border, which still bears the hallmarks of a brutal Civil War where mutilation and killings were commonplace. This country still needs considerable support to get back on its feet.
